Happy Veterans Day From Tim Williams

Dear neighbors,

Despite the hard work and dedicated efforts of everyone involved, our campaign to send someone representative of Assembly District 5 residents was within approximately 1,000 votes. I would like to take this opportunity to again congratulate Assemblywoman Marilyn Dondero Loop.

She will represent our district during the upcoming legislature. And in doing so, I hope she has a better understanding that Nevadans expect more and deserve better. I truly hope the one good bill she sponsored during the last lesson — a law that protects donors of perishable food to our homeless — is the beginning and not the end of well-reasoned legislation or communication with her constituents.

The results of the general election will also be a beginning for me. Since deciding to run for office, I have placed many of my charitable efforts and community service commitments on hold, as I know many of our campaign volunteers did as well. For the last several days, I have been prioritizing how I might better service my community.

In the days and weeks ahead, you will see some small but noticeable changes to this site. However, I have decided to maintain it as a place to share ideas and take action to make our community a better place, especially as it pertains to nonprofit organizations and upcoming legislation.

Please Have A Safe Veterans Day And Honor Those Who Served.

Perhaps it is only fitting that I am writing and posting this letter on the eve of Veterans Day. I can think of no greater service or sacrifice than to serve our county as thousands of brave men and women do every day and have done since the beginning of our nation.

While I never had the honor of serving my country in the armed forces, given I was childhood cancer survivor, I think of our men and women serving abroad almost every day. As a real estate agent, I meet many young couples who serve in the military, and several volunteered on my campaign. Thank you. You inspire me as many have been inspired by your service before me.

The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. — Abraham Lincoln

Likewise, the world will little note what was said during the campaign. But all of us, together, can do things that match our ability and resolve to make Nevada great. And perhaps, ensure our country moves once again in the right direction.

Please visit from time to time to see how you can help. And if you are in need, never hesitate to contact me. It is the least I can do to thank you for your time, energy, efforts, and votes during this past year.

Respectfully,

Tim Williams

Tuesday, November 2 Is More Than Election Day

Dear neighbors,

As many of you know, Nevada became the 36th state to enter the union on Oct. 31, 1864, (with most of Clark County added in 1866 and the eastern boundary set in 1868). And although we've celebrated Nevada Day on the fourth Friday of the month for several years now, I still take time to think about Nevada on Admission Day too.

Yesterday, before my wife and I welcomed neighborhood children in Halloween costumes, we talked about Nevada's history. It was during this conversation we considered how Nevada has always taken pride in its sovereignty.

As a result, we tend to do things differently and enjoy greater freedoms than many of our neighboring states. Maybe that is what this election is about. Maybe that is the easiest way to sum what many of you told me while I walked the district.

The General Election: Tuesday, November 2.

The 2010 General Election in Nevada will be among the most important elections in our history. So, if you haven't voted already, this could be your last chance to help move Nevada in the right direction.

If you have voted, thank you. Please consider helping others to the polls. You can find voting information at the Clark County Election Department or you can call me direct direct at 702.427.7807. We have dozens of volunteers helping Assembly District 5 residents all day.

Why Is This Election So Important?

The reason this election is so important is because we have tried doing what other states do for the last two years. What we learned is that the incumbent's direction leads to more taxes and less services, including education cuts. That doesn't work.

It's also important because with your support, I will be become your representative for Nevada Assembly District 5.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, if you believe some of the recent hate mailers sent out by my opposition, I will have more power than every elected and appointed position in Nevada combined. That's not true, of course. But it does make some people wonder why the opposition is afraid of me.

That's a good question. After all, most legislators are like the incumbent. You only hear from them during the campaign season (if at all). They sponsor five bills, some proposed by special interests, and then vote on bills the way they are told to vote.

Representation For Assembly District 5.

I propose something different. I pledge to be much more active in our community. I will keep you apprised of the legislative bills I sponsor, offer explanations on important issues facing our state, and ask for your input on key legislation. But even when the legislature is not in session, there is plenty of good work that can be done.

We can find solutions to many of the challenges facing our district by bringing the right local, county, and state representatives together and making them listen. We can discuss issues without politics and consider dozens of solutions some of your neighbors offered up when I walked the district. We can even create our own volunteer network to make sure things get done.

At the same time, I can work on bigger issues impacting our entire state. We can propose new ideas to create a better business environment and put Nevadans back to work. We can demand fiscal responsibility and accountability within all state funded programs. We can insist on prioritizing budgets so critical services such as public safety, education, and health care are funded. And, most importantly, I can represent you for a change.

So why is the opposition afraid of me? They are not afraid of me. They are afraid of you.

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, please help me take our unified message to the opposition. The message is simple. Fixing the economy will reduce unemployment and increase government revenue without raising taxes. Haven't you been saying this all along?

If you have any questions about this letter or the issues you care about, please do not hesitate to call me direct at 702.427.7807. I would be honored if you did. Together, we can be heard for a change.

Respectfully,
Tim Williams

Early Voting Ends October 29. Get Out And Vote!

Vote For Tim Williams
Currently, our state is suffering from a two-thirds super majority in the Nevada State Assembly. The 2010 election represents the best opportunity to help Nevada move in the right direction, with the most promising race taking place in Assembly District 5.

Tim Williams Is The Best Choice For Assembly District 5.

For two years, the incumbent in the district has voted lock-step with one party, neglecting issues that matter most to you and your neighbors. Legislation passed by the incumbent has increased unemployment, added taxes, jeopardized health care, and cut education. We cannot afford to increase taxes and reduce services any longer.

Tim Williams represents the right direction. He has walked the district three times and invites anyone, regardless of political party, to call him with concerns, ideas, and questions. He believes like you do that the priorities for Nevada include:

• Helping businesses hire more employees and putting Nevadans to work again.
• Passing balanced budgets without the need for costly special sessions to fix shortfalls.
• Improving education to attract more opportunities and higher paying jobs to Nevada.
• Protecting health care to help Nevadans in need while preserving your medical choices.

Why It is Important To Dismiss Hate Mailers Against Tim Williams.

Tim Williams Assembly District 5Tim Williams has run a clean race, focusing on the record and issues that matter the most in Assembly District 5. The opposition supporting the incumbent has attempted to malign Williams' character by literally making up accusations to frighten people. Here is the truth.

• Tim Williams stood up to mailers that exploited the victims of rape. He believes we need tougher penalties in Nevada.
• Tim Williams stands by local fire and police, believing that Nevada needs to do a better job prioritizing critical services in Nevada, along with education.
• Tim Williams sides with you and your doctors when it comes to issues related to health care. Currently, some doctors in Nevada pay malpractice costs that are equal to 80 percent of their salaries.
• Tim Williams does not support public health care as currently crafted, which recently prompted the opposition to say he wants to cut health care for women and children. This is not true. Like many of your neighbors, he believes we need to find ways to provide medical care to those in need without forcing everyone into an expansive federal government-run bureaucracy.

Tim Williams Is Our Best Chance To Put People Before Politics.

Early voting will continue through Friday, Oct. 29. The General Election Is Nov. 2. If you are unsure of your voting locations, please visit the Clark County Election Department or call Tim Williams direct at 702.427.7807.

We have a growing group of dedicated people helping out. Volunteers for Tim Williams will be available to drive voters to the polls during early voting and during the general election. If you need help, please call.
